Synoptic Reporting Platform

Synoptic Reporting Platform

Synoptic Reporting Platform
NCG is developing a Synoptic Reporting Platform to standardize reporting for pathologists and radiologists, improving the quality of diagnostic communication.

Background

Accurate and timely diagnostics are the foundation of effective cancer care. However, traditional reporting methods for pathologists and radiologists often suffer from inconsistencies, incomplete data, and the potential for human error, which can impact the quality of care delivered to patients.

Initiative

The Synoptic Reporting Platform (SRP) offers a standardized and structured approach to reporting diagnostic findings. The platform is a homegrown solution developed at Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), which has been well-received across the National Cancer Grid (NCG) community. NCG has carefully documented the requirements and will be rearchitecting the solution to offer it in a SaaS model, enabling all NCG centers to access and use the platform at an affordable cost.

The National Cancer Grid (NCG) recognizes that improving diagnostic quality and streamlining data exchange between healthcare providers is essential to advancing cancer care in India. The SRP aims to provide pathologists and radiologists with a tool that allows them to create complete, accurate, and standardized reports, ensuring that treating doctors can easily access all the necessary information to make informed decisions.

With SRP, diagnostic reports can be easily exchanged between systems, analyzed for research purposes, and used to build patient registries. This centralized and structured data is essential for research, allowing for the development of predictive AI/ML models that can enhance diagnostics, treatment planning, and future innovations in cancer care.

As part of its broader mission, NCG is committed to discovering best practices like the Synoptic Reporting Platform across its network and democratizing them to benefit all NCG centers. This approach ensures that advancements in digital pathology and radiology are accessible to a wider audience, improving cancer care nationwide.
